Hair transplantation Surgery

During an initial free consultation doctor looks for the causes of the hair loss and reviews
the possible treatments dialogue l'ith the patient, The patient's own family doctor
and/or a skin specialist are consulted if this is necessary, If a hair transplant is considered appropriate, the centre can offer the patient the virtually pain-free and hiOhly advanced FUE technique that produces an excellent aesthetic outcome, This technique involves transplanting individual hair follicles into the bald areas of the scalp, With the FUE technique, patients rarely if ever report problems l'ith pain, infection or major scarring following the procedure, Depending on the degree of baldness and its causes, 1 to 3 days of treatment are sufficient in most cases, For instance, a scar left by a previous operation or a burn can be corrected in half a day of treatment, The entire procedure, including the initial consultation, the operation and the follow-up checks, is performed exclusively by doctors.
The centre offers patients flexibility when planning operations, and can arrange for surgery
to be performed on weekends and public holidays at no additional charge,

Pre-operative phase

The doctor decides whether hair transplantation is appropriate, following dermatological advice if appropriate The patient's family doctor is also consulted if necessary
Each patient automatically receives medical questionnaires as well as clear pre-operative guidelines
A laboratory examination is necessary, with tests for antibodies against hepatitis B, C and AIDS (HIV) as a minimum requirement
Densitometry of the donor and recipient areas is carried out with a microscope with x30 magnification
The recipient area is defined and aesthetically described in close consultation with the patient
The surface of the recipient area is determined as accurately as possible
Clear agreements are reached about the proposed density in the recipient area
Digital photographs are taken of the patient's status prior to the procedure
An informed consent document is read out and explained to the patient, a careful note is made of any additional requirements expressed by patients

The actual operation

The entire procedure is performed by doctors (includino implantino)
A specialised microscope is used to split grafts and evaluate the quality of grafts Donor hairs are extracted with punches (precision mini hand drills) with diameters up to1 mm and different degrees of sharpness depending on the skin type Ultrafine tweezers are used for implanting
The equipment we use is sterilised several times a day We use a cold light operating lamp Blade cutters make it possible to create implantation openings (slits) of different diameters
Implantation is performed using the lateral slit technique in order to achieve the desired implantation angle
Grafts are implanted on the day of extraction
The density is analysed during the operation at a magnification factor of 6

Post-operative phase

Clear post-operative guidelines are provided and discussed in depth with the patient. Digital photography of donor and recipient areas
Doctors are available 24 hours a day
Antibiotics, painkillers and steroids are prescribed following evidence based guidelines
